Peer Educator Program

RENEW Member Requirements

Mission:  The mission of RENEW is to encourage an overall healthy lifestyle to the students of Florida State University by increasing student awareness of the importance of emotional wellness.  As part of The University Counseling Center outreach program, RENEW trains students to become peer educators who promote the importance of emotional balance as a vital part of an individual’s overall well-being.     

Application Deadline:

When:              Wednesday, September 9th at 5pm
Where:             Email to UCC-RENEW@admin.fsu.edu or turn in at The University Counseling Center
Who:                Attention Desaree Dreher, RENEW Coordinator

Time Commitment:
* Interviews (30 minutes): to be scheduled for Sep 14th or 15th or 16th
* Approximately 4 hours each week of fall and spring semester.  These hours will be comprised of
the following activities:

  • General member meetings every Monday evenings per month from 6-7pm
  • One retreat per semester (Fall-Sept 20th, Time/Place TBA, Spring TBA)
  • Providing presentations, hosting wellness information tables, other outreach activities
  • Special Committee meetings approx. 2x a month

Requirements: 

  • Gpa: 2.5
  • Attend meetings, retreats and training
  • Provide 3 RENEW presentations per semester
  • Participate in RENEW sponsored campus wide events
  • Serve on a RENEW committee
  • Market RENEW and The University Counseling Center
  • Pay 25$ membership dues

Membership Benefits:

  • Opportunity to become nationally certified as a Peer Educator (BACCHUS Certification)

  • Knowledge of stress and time management, study skills, and healthy relationships
