ReferralsFaculty/Staff Referral Guide (Download Acrobat Reader to view this file if you don't already have it) Referrals to other mental health professionals During your intake session, decisions about how to help you will be made. Sometimes you could be served better elsewhere. If that is the case, an appropriate referral will be made. We also provide referrals to other campus counseling services and private practitioners upon request. How to refer someone for counseling Faculty, staff, parents, and friends can assist students in need of counseling by calling to get information about availability of appointments, picking up a brochure at our office for the student, or by coming along for support. We prefer that clients make their initial appointments themselves, as we find a much greater probability of follow through when they have selected the time themselves. However, if this is not possible, we welcome concerned faculty, staff, parents' and friends' help in making an appointment. For more information, please see the UCC Referral Guide. FSU faculty and staff who have personal concerns and want counseling should contact the Employee Assistance Program at (850)644-2288.
